TECHNICAL SHEET

DESCRIPTION

Single-channel surveys were carried out within the framework of RPLC (Refinería Puerto La Cruz) Deep Conversion Project, with the purpose of identifying hazards for the design and development of a new wharf to be located at Guanta Commercial Port, Anzoátegui State. To this end, a detailed seafloor morphological seafloor study took place, detecting and locating existing obstacles and describing features identified in the shallow subsoil.

Integrated interpretation of recorded data allowed defining risks present in the study area. Features encountered, that represent risks or obstacles for wharf development, were summed up in 6 zones, and represented in a Hazards Chart:

Zone 1: recent unconsolidated sediments, Zone 2: Rocky consolidated escarpment, Zone 3: Sunken ships, Zone 4: Debris, Zone 5: Mangroves, Zone 6: inferred shallow areas.
