The Ministry of Infrastructure contracted the study “Feasibility for the macro and micro location of a deep water port in the Araya Peninsula”, to Incostas. Its main objectives were the following:
Handle deep draft vessels. Provide easy marine access. Provide connection to rail system. Handle different types of general load, containers, bulk load, etc., as well as import and export.
The influence zone covers the Venezuela’s northeastern and Guayana regions, but could in the future include other countries of the Caribbean and South America.
SCOPE OF WORK
Products
Macro localization of the port, Micro localization of the port, Economical-Financial Analysis, Environmental Analysis.
Sub Bottom profiler. Pinger Type, Digital Echosounder, DGPS, Hypack Hydrographic Software.
Macro-location
Preliminary analysis of location factors (geographic, oceanographic, environmental, social, seismic, geological, and of soil, roads, services, etc.). Determination of possible sites for placing. Evaluation of alternatives.
Site selection
Field works (bathymetry, geophysical survey, magnetometry, topography, geotechnical survey). Studies (hydrology, meteorology, geology, services, relation city-port). General scheme of port development (conceptual design and spatial disposition of installations and necessary services).
